This is what accessibility means. Everyone deserves to experience the beauty of the ocean like this. Rotarian David Morrison did just that!
ACCESS of Wilmington Inc. is a nonprofit organization that operates six different programs eliminating barriers to health and wellness through sports, recreation and fitness for those in our community with disabilities.
David recently rolled the beach for the first time using a Terrain Hopper courtesy of ACCESS and put the Terrain Hopper through its paces, an an electrically powered off-road mobility vehicle that can traverse through deep mud, soft beach sand, snow, rocks, steep hills, and many other obstacles.
David Morrison is the President and CEO of DF Morrison Consulting, LLC. He helps young nonprofits and social entrepreneurs through formation, board development and fundraising. When not consulting, you will find David "on the mat". He is a registered 200-hr yoga instructor currently teaching online by appointment. He has participated in numerous training sessions sharing his yoga experience from his wheelchair.
David began serving others long before joining Rotary. From 2007-17, he authored and curated the "Endless Options for All Disabilities" blog and weekly column for the Wilmington StarNews. As this journey came to a close, David decided to "keep it rollin", in new ways and opened his consulting firm in 2017. Today, he teaches nonprofit seminars and assists organizations across North Carolina.
David joined Wilmington Rotary in 2019, where he quickly became active. He assisted the club with District Grants, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Literacy and the club's legacy project, Williston Middle School. He is the club's past Public Relations Chair.
In 2020, David volunteered to serve as a Member of the D-7730 DEI Committee, where he Co-Chairs the grants committee. He also serves as a Rotary Works Coach in Zones 33/34. Currently a Member of the Rotary Club of Maysville, David serves as RLI (Rotary Leadership Institute Faculty. He is a Sustaining Member and PHF+1 of the Rotary Foundation.
